TMG #7--Reviews of The Namesake, The Queen, Last King of Scotland, and Notes on a Scandal

Today on the show Doug and I spend some time with the Gangulis, a Queen and a King, and one crazy old school marm. Plus we disagree again on at least one of our reviews, do we get as violent as last time? You'll have to listen to find out!

TMG Short #2--Planet Earth Mini-Series

In honor of Earth Day (I know, I'm a couple days late!), I'm taking a quick look at the 11-Part Mini-Series, Planet Earth. This series takes an in depth look at the wondrous and unusual aspects of nature that many of us weren't even aware of, but all of us can appreciate. Each episode focuses on a different region/habitat, such as "Caves", "Deserts", "Jungles", "The Shallow Seas", and more. Listen to find out why many critics (myself included) are dubbing this the greatest nature documentary of all time.

TMG #6--Reviews of Fracture and Kirikou and the Sorceress, Plus a Look at Our Top 5 Favorite Animated Features

Well, Doug cannot be found anywhere...maybe if he would have given Death Proof the rating it deserved I wouldn't have had to get rid of him. Just kidding! He'll be back for next week's show, but in the meantime our friend Jason agreed to sit in for him. So, we have a review of Anthony Hopkins' latest performance as a murderer in Fracture..is he still the creepiest knight ever, or has he lost his edge? Also, we take a look at animation with our review of the wonderful Kirikou and the Sorceress and our top 5 favorite animated films.

TMG #5--Reviews of The Host and Idiocracy, Plus a Look at Our Top 5 Movie Monsters

Today on the show we review The Host, a Korean film that is part monster movie, part horror, part comedy, part social commentary, part family study, part...well, you get the idea! So does The Host's refusal to sit neatly within genre conventions make it a work of genius, or an incoherent mess? You'll just have to listen to find out! We also review the DVD of Idiocracy, a film by Mike Judge, the creator of the hilarious Office Space...does he strike gold again? And finally Doug and I count down our top 5 movie monsters of all time. Hope you enjoy! Meanwhile I'm going to watch Death Proof again!

Next week, Doug won't be on the show so we might have a surprise guest! So, if there is something you'd like us to talk about next week, just let us know! You can post your ideas or any comments about this week's show at http://groups.google.com/group/thosemovieguys or email us at thosemovieguys@gmail.com!

TMG #4--Our Indepth Look at The Grindhouse, With Reviews of Planet Terror and Deathproof

What's more awesome than a cowardly tough guy who kills people with his car, which has a skull painted across the hood no less? Why a hot girl with a machine-gun leg of course!! Today we review (and argue violently) about Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez's ambitious project, Grindhouse! A word of warning, there are some mild spoilers in our review of Deathproof...we usually try to avoid that, but our debate got so heated that we lost control!

TMG #3--Reviews of The Lookout and Children of Men, Plus Listener Feedback About Our Review of 300

Apparently the marketing department who created the trailer for The Lookout suffered the same brain injury as Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character in the film, because they marketed this deliberately paced character study as a heist film! We also discuss what happens when a director actually gets the sci-fi genre right with the sublime Children of Men. All that, plus some listener feedback disagreeing with our venomous review of 300.

Feel free to give us any feed back you want on our forums at http://groups.google.com/group/thosemovieguys
or email us at thosemovieguys@gmail.com. We'll try to read whatever you send us on our next show, whether we agree or disagree with our opinions!
